Free Motorcycle Diaper Cake Tutorial

I made this Motorcycle inspired Diaper Cake for a Grandma shower at my work. When I placed all my supplies on the table I thought it would be a great idea to do a tutorial for other people, so I grabbed my super awesome camera and started doing step by step snapshots. 

Since my co-worker and her family are avid Harley Davidson riders I picked the orange and black colors as my two main colors.

Materials Used:

40 diapers Size 1 (20 for each tire), 2 receiving blankets (Dimensions: 30.0’L x 30.0”W), a pair of socks or mittens, 3 bibs, 3 plastic chain link toys, a sippy cup or baby bottle, 3 different size fabric ribbons for the tires (I used a 2 ¼ inch in Black, a 1 ½ inch leopard print and a ½ inch in orange), scissors, pins, tape, 8" cake pan, 2 rubber bands, a stuffed animal (Dimensions: between 12" and up to 20"), a bandana and a pair of baby sunglasses.

Using the cake pan start adding the diapers as seen in the pictures. Only use 18 diapers (The other two will be placed in the center).

Make sure the diapers have the same spacing, if they don’t just pull on them until the spacing matches all around.

 1^st middle diaper inserted keeping a whole in the middle.

2^nd middle diaper inserted.

Put a rubber band around it.

 Repeat steps 1-11 to make the 2nd tire.

Cut about 8 same length strips of the thin ribbon to wrap around the tires.

Wrap each tire with the thicker ribbon 1^st and wrap again with the smaller ribbon. Place tape or pin to secure the ribbon.

Wrap again with the smaller ribbon. Place tape or pin to secure the ribbon. (Tape/pin should be on the bottom of the tire).

Fold first receiving blanket in half and roll it up like in pic #21 and #22.

Slide the receiving blanket through the back tire.

Now slide the same receiving blanket through the front tire.

Slide the last end through the tire.

Pull both ends of the blanket to make sure the 2 tires are tight and the blanket too.

Place a pin in the inside of the tire opening securing the crossed over receiving blanket into the diapers. This will hold your Motorcycle in place making it easier to transport to your final destination.

Now place a chain link to each end (Motorcycle foot rest).

Fold your second receiving blanket just like the first one and slide through your front tire (The one with the foot rest).

Lay the Bibs on the top of each wheel and the seat.

Pull the ends of the blanket up making sure they are even and slide your last chain link through the receiving blanket (This will make your handle bar).

Place the sippy cup as seen in the picture (This is your Motorcycle Head Light)

Pull the socks over the end corners of the handle bars.

Wrap one last ribbon throught the back tire and add a pin to secure the bibs and ribbon in place.

Final product now just add the stuff animal.

Here is your side view of your Motorcycle Diaper Cake. Remember to add the bandana and sunglasses for a special touch.
